Project 1

In my role as a business analyst, a recent project I worked on was for a client who decided to launch a new website for its online learning platform to enhance user experience and expand its market presence. As part of the project initiation, I participated in the requirement gathering and analysis phase.

As the business analyst for the project, my role included various tasks essential for understanding stakeholder needs, defining project requirements, and ensuring the successful implementation of the new website.

Requirement Gathering and Elicitation Presentation:
I initiated the project by conducting stakeholder interviews, workshops, and surveys to gather requirements from key stakeholders, including educators, students, and administrators. Following the gathering phase, I also organised and delivered a presentation to stakeholders to present the findings and validated requirements.

High-Level Requirement List:
Based on the gathered requirements, I compiled a high-level requirement list that outlines the functional and non-functional requirements expected from the new website. This list serves as a foundation for the detailed requirement documentation.
AS-IS Process Map:
I detailed and analysed the current processes and workflows within the existing online learning platform to understand the current state. Using process mapping techniques, I documented the AS-IS process map to identify inefficiencies and areas for improvement.
Gap Analysis:
I also conducted a gap analysis, by comparing the current state of the online learning platform with the desired and envisioned future state as defined by stakeholders. This analysis helps identify gaps and discrepancies, paving the way for solution design and to identify areas for improvement.
TO-BE Process Map:
Collaborating with stakeholders, I developed a TO-BE process map that outlines the envisioned workflows and processes for the new website. This map serves as a visual representation of the desired future state and guides the development team.
Business Case:
Together with the business analyst team, I developed a comprehensive business case that articulates the rationale behind the website development project. The business case includes details such as project objectives, scope, benefits, costs, financial analysis and ROI projections to secure stakeholder buy-in and funding approval.
Epic List:
Working closely with the product owner and development team, i created an epic list that breaks down project requirements into manageable and prioritised epics. Each epic represents a high-level user story and feature set.
Use Case Diagram:
I created detailed use case diagrams to depict the interactions between system actors, the users and administrators) and the new website. These diagrams help visualise system functionality and aid in requirements validation.
User Story and Acceptance Criteria:
Collaborating with stakeholders, I defined user stories and acceptance criteria that described specific features or functionalities from an end-user perspective. These user stories serve as the basis for sprint planning and development prioritisation.
Wireframe:
I worked with other business analysts within the team to develop wireframes that visually represent the layout and structure of the new website. These wireframes provide stakeholders with a tangible visualisation of the user interface and functionality.

Throughout the development lifecycle, I created comprehensive test cases to validate the functionality and usability of the website. These test cases cover various scenarios and edge cases to ensure thorough testing and quality assurance.
RAID Log (Risks, Assumptions, Issues, Dependencies):
I maintained and closed the RAID log with the project team to track and manage project risks, assumptions, issues, and dependencies. The RAID log helps mitigate risks, address issues promptly, and ensure project continuity.

By diligently performing these tasks, I contributed to the successful development and implementation of client's new website for its online learning platform. The website meets stakeholder expectations, enhances user experience, and supports the company's mission to provide accessible and high-quality online education.
