Project 2
In one of my previous roles as an analyst, we were contacted by a client who is a major online retailer known for its vast customer base and diverse product offerings to bring out business insights from their customer data. As part of my role, I was provided with a comprehensive sample of customer data, which included various attributes such as customer demographics, spending behaviour, membership levels, and more.
My primary task was to analyse this dataset and extract valuable insights to aid in managerial decision-making. Specifically, I was tasked with:
Conducting data modelling processes to maximize insights from the dataset.
Developing a Power BI-based report to present the analysed data in a visually appealing and informative manner.
Summarising key points of interest identified from the dataset, highlighting trends, patterns, and outliers and demonstrating critical awareness of the limitations inherent in both the provided data and the generated report.
To accomplish these tasks, I began by thoroughly understanding the dataset and its various attributes. I then employed advanced data modelling techniques to organise and structure the data for analysis. Leveraging Power BI, I created interactive and dynamic visualisations that effectively communicated the insights derived from the dataset. Throughout the process, I paid close attention to KPI targets and other relevant metrics to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
The result of my efforts was a comprehensive Power BI-based report that provided actionable insights to the Customer Insight manager. The report highlighted key trends in customer behaviour, identified opportunities for revenue growth, and offered valuable recommendations for strategic decision-making. Additionally, I summarised the main points of interest from the dataset, emphasizing the significance of each insight in driving business outcomes.
While developing the report, I remained aware of the limitations inherent in the dataset, which was mainly the incomplete information. I critically evaluated the reliability of the data and acknowledged any uncertainties in my analysis. This reflective approach ensured that the insights presented in the report were accurate and actionable, thereby maximising its value to the organisation.
Overall, my work on this project demonstrated my proficiency in data analysis, visualisation, and critical thinking, as well as my ability to translate complex datasets into meaningful insights for decision-makers.
